Govt Focuses on Lembaga Tabung Haji RCI Follow-Up, Collaborates with PAC

Kuala lumpur: The MADANI Government is prioritizing follow-up action on the findings of the Royal Commission of Inquiry (RCI) report on Lembaga Tabung Haji (TH), which will be addressed firmly and comprehensively. Minister in the Prime Minister's Department (Religious Affairs) Dr. Zulkifli Hasan announced that the government is also prepared to cooperate with the Public Accounts Committee (PAC) regarding the RCI report if needed.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, the primary focus is to ensure that follow-up action on the Tabung Haji RCI report is handled effectively to safeguard the trust of millions of depositors and protect the sanctity of Muslim assets. This announcement comes amid recent calls for the PAC to establish a special investigative body to review the management and governance of TH from 2017 to the present.

Zulkifli highlighted that the TH RCI comprises six distinguished figures appointed with the consent of the 16th Yang di-Pertuan Agong, Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri'ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah, in July 2021. The combination of expertise in judiciary, public administration, banking, Syariah, and auditing ensures that the investigation and recommendations for action are conducted independently, professionally, fairly, and with integrity, free from interference.

The investigation is further supported by the consent of the 16th Yang di-Pertuan Agong in 2021 and a directive by His Majesty Sultan Ibrahim, King of Malaysia, on August 8, who demanded comprehensive investigations into any wrongdoing. Zulkifli noted that ongoing calls since 2019 from various quarters underscore the demand for absolute transparency in the management of public savings.

He reiterated the MADANI Government's commitment to carrying out its responsibilities with full accountability to Allah SWT, ensuring that any injustices are addressed according to the law.
