Kuala lumpur: The government has initiated an expiry review of the anti-dumping duties imposed on imports of prepainted, painted, or colour-coated steel coils originating or imported from China and Vietnam.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, the Ministry of Investment, Trade and Industry (MITI) stated that the review was initiated upon request by CSC Steel Sdn Bhd, who argued that the expiry of these duties could lead to a continuation or recurrence of dumping and injury to the domestic industry. The government assessed the information provided and decided to commence an expiry review on imports of the subject merchandise from China and Vietnam, following subsection 28C(6) of the Countervailing and Anti-Dumping Duties Act 1993 (Act 504) and regulation 34 of the Countervailing and Anti-Dumping Duties Regulations 1994.

MITI announced that a final determination of the expiry review would be reached within 180 days from the date of initiation. The investigation's review period is set from January 1, 2025, to December 31, 2025.

The ministry also invited relevant interested parties to submit their written views, questionnaire responses, and supporting information electronically through the Trade Remedies Investigation Management System (TRIMA) by August 17, 2026. The system can be accessed at https://traderemedies.miti.gov.my. MITI cautioned that if the necessary information and views are not provided or are inadequate within the stipulated timeframe, the government might make its final determination based on the available facts, in accordance with Section 41 of Act 504.
