Melaka: The government is actively exploring strategies to shift the mindset of Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) students towards embracing technopreneurship, as announced by Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Ahmad Zahid emphasized the significant potential TVET holds in the entrepreneurial sector, highlighting the need for government support to unlock these opportunities. He acknowledged the growing parental trust in TVET, underlining the importance of nurturing and transforming students' mindsets towards becoming future technopreneurs.

Ahmad Zahid shared that TVET institutions under Majlis Amanah Mara (MARA) have already produced 50 TVET millionaires, with notable successes like the entrepreneurs behind the car and motorcycle battery brand, Bateriku.com. His remarks were made during the opening of the National Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) Day Celebration 2025, officiated by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim at the Melaka International Trade Centre (MITC) Ayer Keroh.

The event was also attended by Melaka Chief Minister Datuk Seri Ab Rauf Yusoh. Ahmad Zahid highlighted the necessity for coordinated efforts from all sectors to aid in the nation's development, with a focus on supporting groups often seen as marginalized within the educational system.

He mentioned initiatives by the National TVET Council to recruit huffaz students into TVET, aiming to secure better futures for them. Examples cited include Universiti Kuala Lumpur (UniKL) enrolling huffaz students in its Faculty of Aerospace and the Faculty of Maritime Affairs, and Universiti Tenaga Nasional (Uniten) accommodating 550 huffaz in engineering programs, all of whom have memorized the Quran's 30 juzuk.
