Kuala lumpur: The Kelantan government has pinpointed five crucial needs impacting 1,524 Orang Asli residents in the Pasik Resettlement Scheme (RPS) and Kampung Kuala Wok through the Nenggiri Kembara Rakyat (People's Outreach) Programme. According to BERNAMA News Agency, Nenggiri Assemblyman Mohd Azmawi Fikri Abdul Ghani highlighted the primary concerns requiring swift action, which include home repairs, addressing wild elephant disturbances, electricity supply, and enhancing the Essential Goods Distribution and Jualan Rahmah programmes.

Mohd Azmawi Fikri shared that recent visits to these remote areas on August 3 and 4 revealed many homes in dire need of repairs, such as roof replacements, structural fixes, and electrical system upgrades. He also noted the community's appeal for new housing to accommodate an increasing population, especially newly married couples, and mentioned plans to engage with the Department of Orang Asli Development (JAKOA) on this issue.

He further explained that since 2022, residents have faced ongoing threats from wild elephants, which disrupt daily life and pose safety risks. The government is also evaluating the feasibility of including RON95 petrol in the Essential Goods Distribution Programme for RPS Pasik, given the nearest petrol station is approximately 50 kilometers away.

Additionally, authorities are examining the possibility of increasing the frequency of the Program Jualan Rahmah to alleviate living costs for these remote communities. Mohd Azmawi Fikri emphasized the challenging access to RPS Pasik and Kampung Kuala Wok, which requires a 200-kilometer round trip via four-wheel-drive from Gua Musang, highlighting the obstacles residents face in obtaining essentials and accessing basic services.
