Kuala lumpur: The government is set to prioritize high-impact dakwah (Islamic propagation) programs in 2026, with a strong focus on strengthening family institutions, promoting responsible social media use, and addressing pressing social issues. This strategic shift aims to foster a society that upholds good values and possesses knowledge.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, Datuk Dr Mohd Na'im Mokhtar, the Minister in the Prime Minister's Department (Religious Affairs), highlighted that more than 3,000 dakwah programs were conducted this year, marking a significant achievement. However, for 2026, the focus will shift from the quantity of programs to the quality and impact of each initiative.
Dr Mohd Na'im emphasized the importance of cultivating a MADANI society-one that not only possesses knowledge but also upholds good values. He shared these insights with reporters after officiating the Yayasan Dakwah Islamiah (YADIM) appreciation ceremony and the closing of the 2025 National Dakwah Programme.
In addressing social media concerns, Dr Mohd Na'im stressed the need for public education on responsible and respectful online behavior. He underscored the role of YADIM's dakwah programs in guiding the public, particularly married couples, to refrain from using social media platforms to shame their partners, as such actions do not resolve conflicts.
Furthermore, the government, through YADIM and the Department of Islamic Development Malaysia (JAKIM), plans to continue targeting specific groups with dakwah programs, including those addressing issues related to the lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender (LGBT) community. Dr Mohd Na'im called upon all parties and religious institutions to participate in developing related programs, reinforcing the collective responsibility in fostering a value-driven society.
