Kota kinabalu: Official results of the 17th Sabah State Election after all 73 seats were declared by the Election Commission: GRS won 29 seats, Warisan 25, BN 6, UPKO 3, Independents 5, STAR 2, PH 1, PN 1, KDM 1. The simple majority needed to form a state government is 37 seats.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, the election results indicate a significant lead for GRS, although they have not reached the required number of seats to form a government independently. Warisan came in second with 25 seats, followed by BN with 6 seats. Smaller parties and independents also shared the remaining seats, with UPKO securing 3, Independents 5, STAR 2, while PH, PN, and KDM each managed to secure 1 seat.
The results highlight the fragmented political landscape in Sabah, making the formation of a coalition government a likely scenario. The parties will need to negotiate alliances to achieve the 37-seat majority required to establish a stable government. The outcome of these negotiations will determine the political direction of Sabah in the coming term.
