Guilherme Brace Secures JDT Victory Over Pohang Steelers in AFC Champions League

Pohang:Marcos Guilherme's two second-half goals led Johor Darul Ta'zim (JDT) to a 2-0 triumph over South Korea's Pohang Steelers in their AFC Champions League Elite (ACLE) East Zone match at the Pohang Steel Yard Stadium.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, both teams played aggressively in the first half, with JDT nearly scoring in the 16th minute when Shahab Zahedi's powerful shot hit the crossbar. Pohang faced a setback as their captain, Jeon Min-gwang, was sent off in the 43rd minute for a foul. However, JDT could not capitalize on the resulting free-kick.

Under the guidance of coach Xisco Munoz, JDT came back strong after halftime. Just four minutes into the second half, Guilherme scored with a left-footed shot after receiving a pass from Shahab, giving JDT a 1-0 lead. The Southern Tigers secured their victory in the 89th minute when Guilherme reacted quickly to score from a rebound after the Pohang goalkeeper deflected Bergson da Silva's attempt.

JDT began their ACLE campaign with a 1-1 draw against Thailand's Buriram United and currently sits fifth in the standings with four points. Gamba Osaka from Japan leads with six points, while several teams, including JDT, are tied with four points each after two matches.
