‘Habagat’ continues to dampen Luzon

The southwest monsoon or the ‘habagat’ will continue to affect northern and central Luzon, bringing rain showers across the island on Wednesday, the weather bureau said. In its daily weather bulletin issued at 4 a.m., the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said monsoon rains will dampen the Ilocos region, Batanes, and Babuyan Islands. Scattered rain showers and thunderstorms are forecast in the Cordillera region, Zambales, and Bataan. PAGASA said flash floods or landslides are possible in these areas due to moderate to at times heavy rains. Isolated rain showers caused by the ‘habagat’ and localized thunderstorms will prevail in Metro Manila and the rest of the country, it said. Meanwhile, moderate to strong winds and moderate to rough seas are forecast in Northern and Central Luzon. Winds will be light to moderate with slight to moderate seas.
