Kuala lumpur: The official cost for performing the haj in the 2026 season is set to be announced by Lembaga Tabung Haji (TH) on October 22, as stated by Minister in the Prime Minister's Department (Religious Affairs) Datuk Dr Mohd Na'im Mokhtar. The announcement will be followed by the distribution of offer letters to prospective pilgrims, facilitated by TH chairman Tan Sri Abdul Rashid Hussain.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, the determination of the cost rate, whether it increases or remains the same, is crucial for issuing offer letters to prospective pilgrims. The authorities aim to ensure that the financial aspect does not burden those selected for the pilgrimage. Dr Mohd Na'im emphasized the importance of reducing the percentage of individuals rejecting haj offers, noting that a significant number declined their turn for the 2025 season.
Efforts have been made by TH to address this issue by taking proactive measures to ensure that pilgrims chosen for this year do not reject their offers. This includes identifying their whereabouts and updating their data earlier. These steps are intended to ensure that prospective pilgrims are fully prepared financially, physically, and mentally before undertaking the haj.
Dr Mohd Na'im also highlighted that these measures would help prevent any loss of the haj quota, which currently stands at 31,600 pilgrims.
