Makkah: Malaysian pilgrim Asmah Mansor, 71, who has been receiving treatment at the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of the Saudi German Hospital in Makkah since September 13, is expected to arrive in Malaysia tonight. Minister in the Prime Minister's Department (Religious Affairs) Datuk Dr Mohd Na'im Mokhtar announced that through the repatriation effort coordinated by Tabung Haji, Asmah's return is contingent upon the successful final coordination of flight arrangements, documentation, and health clearance.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, Mohd Na'im emphasized that the final coordination involves relevant authorities, including authorized agencies in Saudi Arabia, and expressed hope that all arrangements proceed smoothly to ensure Asmah's safe arrival home. He urged all Malaysians to continue offering prayers for the mission's success in all aspects.
On behalf of the government, Mohd Na'im expressed appreciation for the concern, support, and contributions from Malaysians, including monetary donations, extended to assist Asmah's family. He acknowledged the commendable spirit of brotherhood and compassion displayed by the community. He also commended Tabung Haji and the Saudi Arabian government for their close cooperation and commitment to the mission's success.
Earlier, Mohd Na'im stated that the mission to bring back Asmah, who has been receiving treatment for pneumonia in the ICU, was initiated after sufficient funds were collected to cover the estimated cost of RM500,000.
