Hajiji Announces More Affordable Homes For Young Sabah Couples

Kota kinabalu: Beginning next year, an additional 10 units of Rumah Mesra Sabah Maju Jaya (SMJ) homes will be allocated for newly married young couples in each state constituency. Sabah Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor stated that this increase will raise the number of Rumah Mesra SMJ homes to be built in each constituency next year to 50 units, compared to the 40 units originally planned for this year.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Hajiji mentioned that the additional homes are specifically designated for young couples who are struggling and newly married, acknowledging that many of them still reside with their families. Hajiji made this announcement in a statement following the groundbreaking ceremony for the Sabah Housing and Town Development Authority (LPPB) Housing and Shop Project in Kampung Taka, Pitas.

Meanwhile, the Chief Minister expressed confidence that the LPPB project would significantly impact the Pitas community by creating employment, business, and service opportunities. He highlighted that the project would enable residents to own homes, illustrating the state government's commitment to rural development. The project involves constructing 320 housing units on a 15.21-hectare plot owned by LPPB, along with 171 shop units.

At the same event, Hajiji also announced the approval for constructing a mini Pitas Sports Complex, a public bus terminal at the cost of RM1 million, and a cultural house at Dataran Pitas valued at RM1.4 million.
