Kuala lumpur: Malaysian young rider Muhammad Hakim Danish Ramli has made a major breakthrough in his career after being offered a full-season contract to race with MSi Racing Team in the Moto3 class of the World Motorcycle Championship (MotoGP) next season. SIC Racing team manager Zulfahmi Khairuddin said the offer to the 18-year-old is unlike most Asian riders, who usually require significant financial backing, making this opportunity one of the most special for a Malaysian rider.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, Zulfahmi Khairuddin explained that this deal is completely different from the situation faced by Syarifuddin Azman, who competed in a full Moto3 season last year with high financial commitments. He stated, "This time, MSi is offering Hakim Danish a genuine professional contract. They will provide his salary and bonuses, and we only need to cover some minor costs. It's very different from the usual model for Asian riders."
Zulfahmi further elaborated that the offer came after Spanish rider Angel Piqueras was confirmed to move up to the Moto2 class next season. He noted that many other riders were interested in the spot, prompting a swift decision. Hakim Danish will be using the same bike that Piqueras raced this season, an advantage for the young Malaysian rider.
The opportunity is seen as a dream come true for both Zulfahmi and the Terengganu-born rider, who has been competing in the JuniorGP and Red Bull Rookies Cup. Hakim Danish is set to participate in all 22 rounds of the Moto3 world championship next year, marking a significant challenge and development in his career at the global level.
Hakim Danish is expected to team up with Japanese rider Ryusei Yamanaka in the MSi Racing Team lineup. He concluded this season's Red Bull Rookies Cup in third overall with 171 points after the final round at the Misano Circuit in September, trailing 65 points behind overall champion Brian Uriarte of Spain. Indonesia's Veda Pramata secured second place overall with 181 points.
