Hannah, AG Attend Pardons Board Meeting on Najib’s Application

Kuala lumpur: Minister in the Prime Minister's Department (Federal Territories) Hannah Yeoh and Attorney-General Tan Sri Mohd Dusuki Mokhtar attended the 64th meeting of the Pardons Board for the Federal Territories of Kuala Lumpur, Labuan, and Putrajaya at Istana Negara today. This meeting was notably held in relation to the pardon application of former Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak, which had previously been deferred on September 11.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Najib, aged 73, has been serving his prison sentence at Kajang Prison since August 23, 2022. The event drew significant attention, with local and international media personnel gathering near the main entrance of Istana Negara early in the morning to monitor developments.

The meeting saw Hannah Yeoh arriving at Istana Negara at 7:45 am, followed by the arrival of Mohd Dusuki seven minutes later. Hannah Yeoh was observed leaving the premises first, with Mohd Dusuki departing at 9:43 am after the meeting concluded.

The Federal Territories Pardons Board, chaired by the King, includes the Attorney-General, the Minister responsible for the Federal Territories, and three additional members appointed by His Majesty. As per Article 42 of the Federal Constitution, the King holds the power to grant pardons and make final decisions on such matters concerning offences committed in the Federal Territories.
