‘Hebatkan Perniagaan Malaysia’ Tops Agenda in First 100 Days of KUSKOP Leadership

Kuala lumpur: 'Hebatkan Perniagaan Malaysia' has been the main focus of Entrepreneur Development and Cooperatives Minister Steven Sim Chee Keong in the first 100 days of helming the ministry. Sim stated that during this period, the Entrepreneur Development and Cooperatives Ministry (KUSKOP) achieved several key milestones, such as enhancing financing funds, empowering micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs), and improving the national entrepreneurial ecosystem.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Sim expressed his gratitude towards the KUSKOP staff and emphasized his singular focus on boosting Malaysian businesses without bias towards race or religion. On Facebook, he shared an infographic outlining his achievements, which included increasing Bumiputera financing funding under Tabung Ekonomi Kumpulan Usaha Niaga Nasional (TEKUN Nasional) from RM300 million to RM500 million. He also launched a new RM100 million financing scheme through SME Bank and Bank Rakyat to assist Chinese MSMEs, and raised financing for Indian entrepreneurs under the Indian Community Entrepreneur Development Scheme from RM30 million to RM50 million.

Additionally, Sim introduced initiatives such as the RM50 million Ramadan dan Perniagaan Rakyat Financing Scheme (BARAKAT) for Bumiputera MSMEs during Ramadan, the RM30 million Chinese-owned Micro Entrepreneur Special Financing Programme (BERKAT) for Chinese New Year, and the RM3 billion Women Entrepreneur Economy Fund (DEWI) aimed at benefiting 300,000 women entrepreneurs nationwide.

A significant business agreement worth RM2 billion was also secured under the Makkah Halal Forum 2026, and the ministry reported RM90 million in sales through participation in Japan Foodex. Efforts to enhance cooperatives were bolstered with a record RM254 million allocation, alongside the implementation of the Business School Malaysian Skill Certificate (SKM) to transform the school cooperative movement into a Business School platform for students.
