Helical Fusion Secures $20.6 Million in Series B Funding

Kuala Lampur:Helical Fusion Co Ltd, a fusion energy company, has successfully completed a 3.23 billion Japanese yen (approximately US$20.6 million) Series B second close funding round.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, this funding round marks a significant expansion of the industrial coalition supporting Helical Fusion's Helix Program. Notably, Japanese electrical and industrial equipment manufacturer Fuji Electric Co Ltd has joined as an investor and Official Partner of the Helix Program.

Helical Fusion stated that Fuji Electric's involvement represents a considerable enhancement of the industrial capabilities within the Helix Program. The new capital and business alliance will allow the companies to expand their collaboration on developing products, services, and advanced technologies essential for future fusion power systems.

Helical Fusion's Co-Founder and CEO, Takaya Taguchi, emphasized the progress of the Helix Program, noting the daily collaborative efforts at the Helix HARUKA construction site. The participation of Fuji Electric and other prominent companies in Japan's energy and industrial sectors strengthens the foundation for a new energy industry.

Additional investors in this funding round include Hazama Ando Corporation, Fujikura Ltd, Tokyo Gas Co Ltd, KKT LLC, and URATA Co Ltd. The round also attracted investments from Ecrowd NEXT and multiple corporate and individual investors.

Including other funding and the Gifu Prime Startup Support Subsidy, Helical Fusion's total funding has reached approximately 13.15 billion Japanese yen (about US$83.8 million). This capital will accelerate the Helix Program's development roadmap, leading to integrated demonstration with Helix HARUKA and eventual net-electricity generation with Helix KANATA, its first fusion power plant, anticipated in the 2030s.
