Putrajaya: Preparations for the 2026 National Day parade at Dataran Putrajaya are nearly 100 per cent complete ahead of tomorrow's dress rehearsal, with only minor adjustments required, according to Communications Minister Datuk Seri Fahmi Fadzil.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, Fahmi noted that the remaining improvements focus on coordinating movement distances between contingents to ensure a neat and orderly parade. He mentioned that some contingents were positioned too far apart and that this aspect needs tightening. Fahmi expressed confidence that by tomorrow's full rehearsal, preparations would be nearly complete.
Fahmi, who also serves as chairman of the 2026 National Day and Malaysia Day (HKHM) Main Committee, shared these updates after inspecting today's rehearsal. The inspection was attended by Communications Ministry secretary-general Datuk Abdul Halim Hamzah. He highlighted that favorable weather conditions contributed to the smooth running of the rehearsal and praised the high spirits of all participants, including security personnel and school students from three states involved in the human graphics performance.
In addition to new assets and formations, the parade will feature the inaugural participation of the Johor Military Force and the maritime asset Ibrahim-class boat, designed by His Majesty Sultan Ibrahim, King of Malaysia. These elements are among the main attractions of this year's celebrations.
Fahmi assured that the safety of the multi-level structure, accommodating 1,500 students for the human graphics performance, had been thoroughly assessed by Putrajaya Corporation (PPj). He explained that the slight movement of the structure was within permitted tolerance levels to accommodate rhythmic movements. This is the third time the structure has been used, and no issues have been reported so far.
Addressing the slightly asymmetrical positioning of the structure, Fahmi explained it was due to the parade route and the PPj building not being on the same axis, as well as the number of participants being reduced from 2,000 to 1,500. Fahmi mentioned that he has asked the organizing secretariat to review technical adjustments for future editions to mitigate negative perceptions regarding the structure's positioning.
