Kota Kinabalu: The National Farmers, Breeders and Fishermen's Day (HPPNK) 2025 celebration will take place at the Sabah International Convention Centre (SICC) in Kota Kinabalu, Sabah, from Aug 1 to 3. Agriculture and Food Security Minister Datuk Seri Mohamad Sabu announced that this year's edition holds special significance as it marks the 50th anniversary of HPPNK, which was first introduced in 1975.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, the celebration, themed 'Kudrat Kami Menjamin Pertiwi', aims to highlight the dedication of the agriculture, livestock, and fisheries sectors in ensuring food security for the populace. Mohamad Sabu described HPPNK as a significant event that unites farmers, livestock breeders, and fishermen nationwide to honor their roles in maintaining food sufficiency and security, as well as contributing to the growth of the country's agro-food sector.
Mohamad stated that the HPPNK 2025 celebration would be inaugurated by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim and is expected to draw over 500,000 visitors, with anticipated sales reaching up to RM100 million. He elaborated that the event will feature 18 segments under four main focus areas: Agro Millenia, Sufficient and Guaranteed, Sejahtera MADANI, and Sales and Entrepreneurship.
Highlighting the attractions, Mohamad mentioned the Agro MADANI Mega Sales, which will showcase the Malaysia MADANI Food concept, offering over 300 food selections, including popular Sabah dishes, at 10 to 30 percent below market prices. The celebration will also host various exhibitions and activities focused on technology and innovation, such as the Technology and Sustainability Exhibition, the crop and padi segment, and the Livestock and Aquaculture Exhibition.
Mohamad emphasized that HPPNK not only honors sector contributions but also facilitates strategic networking, knowledge exchange, and business opportunities. He reiterated that food security remains a priority for the Agriculture and Food Security Ministry, aiming to decrease import dependence and enhance local production.
