HSN 2026 Targets Over 5.3 Million Participants with AI and Digital Integration

Kuala lumpur: The National Sports Day (HSN) 2026 celebration, scheduled from October 9 to 11, aims to engage more than 5.3 million Malaysians through a variety of sports and recreational activities at district, state, and national levels.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Youth and Sports Minister Dr. Mohammed Taufiq Johari highlighted that HSN 2026 introduces a new logo and embraces the theme "Digital Technology and Artificial Intelligence (AI)." The focus is on merging digital advancements with sports development to boost public participation in physical activities.

Dr. Johari mentioned that this year's pre-launch incorporates a novel approach using virtual reality (VR) technology, aligning with the ministry's agenda to embed digitalisation within the nation's sports framework. "We are introducing something different at this pre-launch by incorporating extensive VR elements to ensure we keep pace with current developments and ongoing digitalisation, in line with efforts to integrate AI," he explained.

He further elaborated on the role of technology in sports by stating, "For example, e-sports is often viewed as a technology-driven sport, but our approach is to show how it can help create a healthier society. We want to demonstrate that even those who play video games should remain physically active."

The premier event's national launch is slated to be officiated by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim at the National Stadium in Bukit Jalil on October 10. Dr. Johari emphasized that HSN 2026 will also act as a catalyst for building excitement leading up to the 2027 SEA Games, which Malaysia is set to host.

He noted, "We are working closely with the Malaysia SEA Games Organising Committee (MASOC) to organise the SEA Games Roadshow as part of efforts to build public support ahead of the Games." The event will also include the MADANI Fun Run, MADANI Fun Walk, and a host of activities under the Active Malaysia and Sports Industry segments, integrating the Rakan Muda Lifestyle elements.
