IILM’s Short-term Sukuk Portfolio Hits Record US$6.05 Billion

Kuala lumpur: The International Islamic Liquidity Management Corporation (IILM) announced that its outstanding short-term Sukuk portfolio has reached a record high of US$6.05 billion (US$1=RM4.2).

According to BERNAMA News Agency, the increase in underlying assets follows the recent upsizing of IILM's Sukuk programme from US$6 billion to US$8.5 billion, enhancing its capacity to meet rising global demand for Shariah-compliant liquidity instruments. Chief executive officer Mohamad Safri Shahul Hamid stated that this development reinforces IILM's pivotal role in strengthening financial stability and resilience within the Islamic finance ecosystem.

The achievement underscores the sustained and growing demand from IILM's global investor base and reaffirms the organization's commitment to providing a diversified range of high-quality, Shariah-compliant instruments that address the evolving liquidity needs of Islamic financial institutions worldwide. This milestone follows the successful issuance and reissuance of an aggregate US$1.125 billion in short-term Sukuk across four tenures: one, three, six, and 12 months.

The four series were competitively priced, with the one-month tenor raising US$375 million at 4.20 percent, the three-month securing US$450 million at 4.10 percent, the six-month amounting to US$245 million at 4.30 percent, and the 12-month garnering US$55 million at 3.80 percent. This transaction marks IILM's 18th Sukuk auction year-to-date, bringing total issuances to US$18.76 billion across 56 Sukuk series of varying maturities.

IILM is a regular issuer of short-term Sukuk across different tenors and amounts to meet the liquidity needs of institutions offering Islamic financial services.
