IJN Launches Branding Initiative at MRT Raja Uda Station to Enhance Heart Care Accessibility

Kuala Lumpur:Institut Jantung Negara (IJN) has officially launched the branding of the MRT Raja Uda-IJN station, marking a significant milestone in efforts to improve access to specialist heart care. This initiative strengthens the link between public transport and healthcare services.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, the collaboration integrates the IJN name into the station's identity on signage, route maps, and onboard announcements along the MRT Putrajaya Line. This change aims to provide clearer guidance for patients, families, visitors, students, and employees traveling to the hospital.

IJN's acting group chief executive officer, Datuk Dr. Shaiful Azmi Yahaya, emphasized that the collaboration is more than just connecting an MRT station to a hospital; it creates opportunities to connect more people with healthcare. IJN's efforts to improve public accessibility began in 2022 with the construction of a pedestrian bridge across Sungai Bunus, part of its corporate social responsibility efforts, providing an alternative public access route to the hospital via the Yayasan Selangor building.

Building on this, Dewan Bandaraya Kuala Lumpur (DBKL), with support from the Mayor of Kuala Lumpur, has committed to sponsoring a covered pedestrian walkway towards IJN to improve comfort, safety, and accessibility, especially for older people and those with limited mobility. IJN also plans initiatives such as heart-health education campaigns and early screening programs to encourage cardiovascular health awareness.

Minister in the Prime Minister's Department (Federal Territories) Hannah Yeoh expressed support for the partnership as a step towards easier hospital visits for patients and their families. MRT Corporation Sdn Bhd (MRT Corp) chief executive officer Datuk Mohd Zarif Hashim highlighted that the partnership reflects the corporation's ambition to transform the MRT Raja Uda station into a space that delivers greater benefits to passengers and the surrounding community.

The launch follows the exchange of station branding agreement documents between MRT Corp and IJN at Transport Expo Asia 2026, held at the Malaysia International Trade and Exhibition Centre. This collaboration aligns with IJN's aspiration to extend its contribution beyond hospital-based treatment through improved accessibility, public education, preventive healthcare, and strategic partnerships.
