Accra:The Works Minister, Datuk Seri Alexander Nanta Linggi, emphasized the need for inclusive digital transformation in the construction industry to ensure all tiers, especially small and medium contractors, benefit from technological advancements. He highlighted digitalisation as essential for enhancing the industry's efficiency, productivity, and competitiveness amidst challenges such as cost management and project completion timelines.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, Nanta stressed that digital transformation must cater to all levels of the industry, from G1 to G7 grade contractors, through accessible platforms and appropriate support. He underscored the importance of a skilled workforce and the need for training and support to facilitate technology adoption. Nanta also called for strategic collaboration between the government and the industry to produce practical technological solutions.
Nanta noted that while expanding market access, quality, standards, and compliance should be upheld, prioritizing accuracy of product information, supplier reliability, and data security to ensure user confidence. He mentioned that the newly launched MENARABENA platform could significantly enhance efficiency in construction transactions by providing easier access to product information and certifications.
Speaking about MENARABENA, Nanta explained that the platform could reduce the time required for certain construction processes from six months to two or three months, leading to increased efficiency and cost savings. MENARABENA, a business-to-business digital platform, was launched by Menara Asia Sdn Bhd in collaboration with CIDB Holdings Bhd to streamline procurement processes and connect industry players to local and international markets. The platform supports procurement, product marketing, delivery coordination, and order tracking for industry stakeholders, including contractors, manufacturers, suppliers, and developers.
