Kuala lumpur: An Indonesian man was detained at the Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) Terminal 1 after being found with suspicious security stamps during immigration checks, according to the Malaysia Checkpoints and Border Agency (MCBA). The incident occurred yesterday afternoon in the departure hall of the airport.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, initial investigations revealed that the man had entered Malaysia via the Pasir Gudang entry point in Johor on July 18, 2022. He was recorded as having left the country through KLIA on August 13, 2022. However, authorities became suspicious when they discovered several entry and exit security stamps bearing his name from 2022 to 2025, which prompted further investigation.
The MCBA stated that checks through the MyIMMs system found no official records of the man's movements in or out of Malaysia during the period in question. Under investigation, the man admitted he had never left Malaysia since 2022 and confessed to paying RM4,000 for the fake stamps.
The agency highlighted the possibility of the man's involvement in a 'flying' syndicate, a term used to describe fraudulent immigration stamping activities. The MCBA announced that further investigations would be conducted to identify those responsible for the activity and to pursue disciplinary action and criminal charges related to passport forgery or other immigration offenses.
