Kuala lumpur: The government is determined to accelerate the transition towards a value-creation-based economy by fostering a culture of innovation and creativity, especially within the public service, says Housing and Local Government Minister Nga Kor Ming. He emphasized that innovation and value creation were essential for Malaysia to emerge as a technology leader and producer of world-class products and services.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, Nga Kor Ming highlighted the necessity for Malaysia to evolve from being merely a consumer to becoming a leader in technology and a producer of high-quality 'Made by Malaysia' products and services. He shared these insights during the officiation of the 2025 Housing and Local Government Ministry Innovation Day.
Nga further elaborated that the introduction of new ideas aimed at improving efficiency, productivity, and service quality would inspire civil servants to think creatively and develop innovative solutions that benefit the nation. He stressed that increasing national revenue without burdening the people aligns with the MADANI government's policy to maintain competitiveness, foster creativity, and uphold the nation's respect on the global stage.
He also pointed to Malaysia's significant achievements, such as rising to 34th place out of 139 in the Global Innovation Index 2025 and climbing to 23rd place in the IMD World Competitiveness Ranking 2025. These milestones, Nga noted, are a testament to the government's successful trajectory in promoting innovation and its commitment to building a sustainable, inclusive, and competitive innovation ecosystem.
