Internet Coverage Enhancement Crucial for Visit Negeri Sembilan Year 2026

Seremban: The widespread use of Quick Response (QR) Pay at all business premises throughout Negeri Sembilan is among the main factors why internet access needs to be at its best by the time Visit Negeri Sembilan Year (VNSY) 2026 arrives. State Heritage, Technology, Innovation and Digital Committee chairman Datuk Mohd Faizal Ramli highlighted the necessity of robust internet connectivity to facilitate cashless transactions favored by foreign tourists visiting the region.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, most foreign tourists who visit Negeri Sembilan prefer online payment methods, including using QR codes at restaurants. Datuk Mohd Faizal emphasized that Negeri Sembilan boasts attractive destinations such as beaches, hills, mountains, and heritage sites, along with popular culinary spots offering unique local dishes like rendang maman, daging salai (smoked meat), itik salai (smoked duck), and masak lemak cili api. These are particularly renowned in areas like Kuala Pilah, Pedas, Tampin, and Rembau.

"We have been told that most of them make payments using the QR code, online and cashless, so internet access is very important for focal areas like this so that their payments are not disrupted and entrepreneurs can conduct their buying and selling activities smoothly," Datuk Mohd Faizal stated. He addressed this issue following the Negeri Sembilan 2025 Tourism Area Communications Service Coverage Coordination Workshop, held in collaboration with the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC).

Mohd Faizal further noted that his department is committed to enhancing internet access across all tourism areas within the state, particularly in remote forest, hilly, and mountainous regions such as Rembau, Kuala Pilah, and the Sungai Menyala Forest Reserve in Port Dickson, which currently lack complete coverage. "We will always update and upgrade the telecommunications towers so that everyone can have better internet access, including tourist areas in indigenous villages," he affirmed.

The workshop aims to set clear targets for coordinating strategies to improve communication service coverage within tourist zones in Negeri Sembilan. This involves identifying priority areas for immediate enhancement, planning the implementation of coverage improvement initiatives, and exploring innovative solutions to these challenges.

Mohd Faizal reiterated that these efforts align with the state government's vision to ensure the success of VNSY 2026 and establish Negeri Sembilan as a premier tourism destination in Malaysia. He also expressed hopes for fostering strong collaboration among local agencies, particularly between the Tourism Division, telecommunications companies, local authorities, and MCMC, to achieve comprehensive internet coverage in all tourist areas.
