Penang:The All Malaysian Indian Progressive Front (IPF) has applied to become a component party of Barisan Nasional (BN), beginning its efforts in Penang before extending the initiative nationwide.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, IPF's president, Datuk T. Loganathan, stated that the party's application stems from its longstanding loyalty to BN, even though it has never been granted any positions. Despite BN's loss in the 14th General Election in 2018, IPF remained loyal while several other component parties departed.

Loganathan expressed hope that the BN leadership would consider allowing IPF to contest in state seats where they have potential for success. He emphasized Penang as the starting point for the party's integration into BN before progressing to a national level.

Penang BN chairman Datuk Musa Sheikh Fadzir indicated that he would present IPF's application to the UMNO Supreme Council meeting before forwarding it to the UMNO president and BN chairman. He noted that Penang IPF has been an active supporter of BN, contributing during both by-elections and state elections.
