Kuala Lumpur: The Malaysian Rubber Board (MRB) has announced that the Rubber Production Incentive (IPG) for cup lump and latex has not been activated for October 2024 in Peninsular Malaysia, Sabah, and Sarawak.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, MRB stated that effective January 2024, the IPG would be activated if the average monthly farmgate price for cup lump rubber is RM3.00 per kilogramme (kg) or below. This adjustment in the activation price level is part of the government’s initiatives as outlined in the Budget 2024 announcement.
Furthermore, the IPG for latex will be activated simultaneously with the activation of the cup lump’s IPG. The rate for IPG latex is set at RM0.90 per kg for latex with 100 per cent dry rubber content, and the incentive will be available to all eligible Malaysian rubber smallholders.
For October 2024, MRB reported that the average price for cup lump in Peninsular Malaysia was RM3.70 per kg, RM3.40 per kg in Sabah, and RM3.20 per kg in Sarawak. As these prices are above the th
reshold, no IPG payment was made for the month.
