IPMa Staff Suspended Over Alleged Sexual Harassment Against Student

Majlis amanah rakyat (mara): Majlis Amanah Rakyat (MARA) has immediately suspended a member of its staff following allegations of sexual harassment involving at least eight students at a MARA educational institution (IPMa).

According to BERNAMA News Agency, MARA chairman Datuk Dr Asyraf Wajdi Dusuki stated that the suspension was necessary to allow for an unimpeded investigation into the allegations. The situation surfaced after Dr. Asyraf received direct messages from several students, who claimed to be victims, urging him to prompt MARA management for immediate action.

Dr. Asyraf expressed his concern over the students' preference to report the incidents directly to him rather than through official channels. "I tried hard to persuade them to file a police report, as this involves a criminal matter. I find it curious that these students are more willing to complain directly to me than to the management," he mentioned in a Facebook post.

He reiterated MARA's zero-tolerance policy towards any form of misconduct, emphasizing that no cases would be buried or ignored in an attempt to safeguard the institution's reputation. "Do not be afraid to report any misconduct, especially regarding sexual harassment. MARA will never compromise on such misconduct and will take stern action, including dismissal, against those involved," he assured.
