IPNas 2025 Study Shows Malaysians Are More United

Kuala lumpur: Findings from the National Unity Index (IPNas) 2025 show that Malaysians are becoming increasingly united, with a stronger sense of national spirit and high confidence in the country's systems and institutions.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, National Unity and Integration Department (JPNIN) director-general Zulkifli Hashim stated that the study recorded a unity score of 0.701, categorised as moderately high, surpassing the target set under the 12th Malaysia Plan. Zulkifli noted the score shows a consistent upward trend compared with 2018, which recorded 0.567, and 2022, which recorded 0.629. He emphasized the importance of never taking unity for granted, and the need for it to be continuously nurtured, preserved, and strengthened by every generation to ensure peace and stability for future generations.

He also highlighted the dual role of social media in today's digital age. While it can serve as a platform to unite society, if misused, it can also become a channel for spreading false information, hate speech, slander, and provocation, which could undermine social harmony. In this context, Zulkifli urged university students to be critical, mature, and responsible when evaluating information.

Zulkifli encouraged the younger generation to use social media to spread messages of unity, foster respect, and strengthen the spirit of togetherness in society.
