IRB Initiates Probe Into Individuals Identified In TH RCI Report

Kuala lumpur: The Inland Revenue Board (IRB) has opened investigations into individuals identified in the Royal Commission of Inquiry (RCI) report on Lembaga Tabung Haji (TH).

According to BERNAMA News Agency, the IRB stated that a tax risk analysis had found discrepancies between the individuals' declared income and their asset holdings. As part of the investigation, IRB officers conducted raids on several related premises to gather information, examine documents, and verify facts relevant to the investigations.

The IRB emphasized that all reviews and investigations are conducted professionally, with integrity, and in accordance with existing tax laws, ensuring no prejudice against any party. The board assured that further action will be determined only after a thorough assessment of the information and evidence obtained during the review.

The Department of Islamic Development Malaysia (Jakim) had published the extensive 211-page RCI report on July 29, detailing Tabung Haji's management and operations from 2014 to 2020.
