Kuala Lumpur: Akademi Kenegaraan Malaysia (AKM) deputy director-general (Training) Datuk Ismail Yusop has been appointed as the director-general of the Community Communications Department (JKOM). The announcement of the former senator's new role was made today through a congratulatory post on AKM's official Facebook page.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, the post from AKM expressed the team's warm wishes for Ismail's success in his new position within the Ministry of Communications. The message conveyed hopes for his good health and successful fulfillment of his new responsibilities.

Ismail takes over from Dr Mohd Khairuddin Othman, whose service as director-general was terminated in September 2024. Dr Othman had been in the role since March 1 of the same year.
