Italian Students Explore Chinese Culture in Weifang

Weifang:Seven Italian university students from Perugia recently completed a two-week cultural exchange program at Shandong Vocational College of Science and Technology in Weifang, Shandong Province. The "Study Abroad Program," themed "Encountering the Kite Capital," provided the students with opportunities to engage in cultural exchange, attend classes, and participate in city tours.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, the students immersed themselves in traditional Chinese culture through activities such as tie-dyeing and leather carving, gaining valuable insights into the local intangible cultural heritage.

A notable experience for the students was wearing traditional Chinese clothing. The college's Department of Textile and Garment crafted various garments, including Hanfu and Qipao, which allowed Vanessa, Sara, Irene, and their peers to experience traditional Chinese aesthetics.

The vocational college noted that Vanessa wore a Tang Dynasty-style wide-sleeved robe with a floral medallion pattern, inspired by Dunhuang murals. Sara donned a Tang-style jacket-and-skirt ensemble, reminiscent of Tang Sancai glazed pottery, while Irene wore a fitted purple embroidered Qipao.

Vanessa highlighted wearing Hanfu as the most memorable aspect of the trip, and Sara expressed admiration for the craftsmanship and cultural richness of the traditional clothing. The students plan to share their experiences in Weifang and promote cultural understanding between young people in China and Italy.
