Penang: Indah Water Konsortium (IWK) Sdn Bhd has completed dredging works following the sinkhole incident at Jalan Kenari, Sungai Ara, on Nov 4. Penang Infrastructure, Transport and Digital Committee chairman Zairil Khir Johari announced that the dredging reached a depth of eight metres as of 10.30 am today.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, the next phase will focus on repairing the sewage pipe. Zairil Khir Johari mentioned in a Facebook post the importance of patience and caution among motorists and residents during the repair process and expressed gratitude for their cooperation.
The sinkhole incident occurred around 4.30 pm on Nov 4, creating a cavity approximately five metres long, 3.5 metres wide, and 1.9 metres deep along the road. Fortunately, no casualties or property damage were reported.
