JAIS Summons e-Hati Organisers Over Alleged Obscene Content

Penaga: The Selangor Islamic Religious Department (JAIS) is actively summoning organisers of the e-Hati marriage motivation programme to record statements as part of an ongoing investigation into allegations of obscene content and dubious beliefs within the program. The investigation is being conducted under syariah crimes.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Minister in the Prime Minister's Department (Religious Affairs) Datuk Dr Mohd Na'im Mokhtar revealed that several witnesses have already been called to assist with the investigations, which are also being coordinated with the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) under the Penal Code. The Minister highlighted that JAIS is working closely with PDRM to monitor the progress of the case.

Mohd Na'im shared these updates with reporters following his participation in the Sinar Lestari Programme of the Islamic Economic Development Foundation of Malaysia (YAPEIM) in Penaga. During the event, three families received assistance to construct new homes. He stated that his department is awaiting a comprehensive report from JAIS regarding the e-Hati programme.

The investigation was prompted by public outcry after a social media user exposed the alleged lewd elements and suspicious beliefs in the e-Hati motivational programme, which is managed by a married couple. Subsequently, the couple, along with four other individuals, were remanded for three days to aid the investigation into the programme's operations.

In a separate initiative, YAPEIM, alongside strategic partners, provided funding of RM240,000 to build homes for three beneficiaries from the B40 group listed under the eKasih program in Penang.
