Kuala lumpur: The Kuala Lumpur Federal Territory Department of Environment (JAS WPKL) has detected at least three attempted scams using fake government order documents that misused the name, logo, and identities of several department officers. JAS WPKL Director Sharifah Zakiah Syed Sahab revealed the discovery following a complaint from a diving equipment supplier registered in the government procurement system on August 3.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, the company received a suspicious government order document featuring the JAS logo, with a total order value of RM26,000. Sharifah Zakiah stated that these fake documents misused the names of several JAS WPKL officers.

Further investigations showed that inquiries regarding government orders for a programme using scuba equipment began arriving on August 12, 2026, involving another company with an order value exceeding RM100,000. The document also misleadingly showed a total amount of around RM135,000 for the same service with the same document number.

Consequently, JAS WPKL has informed the JAS Headquarters Finance Section and lodged a police report on September 4, 2026, about these scam cases. The department emphasizes the seriousness of these complaints, as the misuse of fake names, logos, and documents resembling official government documents can tarnish the image and reputation of the Department of Environment and the civil service.

JAS WPKL appreciates the vigilance of the public and companies in verifying the authenticity of government order documents. Such actions are essential in preventing the misuse of the Department's name and identity and protecting the interests of suppliers and the Government against fraud or impersonation.
