Tapah: Jaslinda Saludin, 49, has expressed her gratitude to media practitioners for their daily coverage of the search and rescue (SAR) operation before she was found safe on Saturday, according to Perak Communications, Multimedia and NGO Committee chairman Mohd Azlan Helmi. He emphasized that regular media updates help ensure the dissemination of accurate news and counter speculation.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, Mohd Azlan shared that Jaslinda had a whistle with her in the forest and used it frequently. She reported hearing helicopters flying overhead and discovered notes from the SAR team. Unfortunately, she was moving in the opposite direction after the team had already passed through, which led to her finding one of the notes. Mohd Azlan provided these details to reporters after visiting Jaslinda at Tapah Hospital.
In attendance at the hospital were State Human Resources, Health, Indian Community Affairs and National Integration Committee chairman Datuk A. Sivanesan and Tapah Hospital director Dr Wan Immi Salim. Mohd Azlan mentioned that the state government is considering discussing incentives for the SAR team at the upcoming state exco meeting. He noted that discussions may take place with Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Saarani Mohamad, and an announcement from the Menteri Besar is anticipated.
Jaslinda was found near Kampung Lubuk Gaharu, Pos Musoh, at approximately 5 pm by members of the Orang Asli community. Her disappearance occurred during a Trans Spencer Chapman hike on May 23 along the Pos Gedung-Gunung Bah Gading-Gunung Batu Putih-Kuala Woh trail, which included 13 other participants and two Forestry Department Mountain guides.
