Siena:Comedian and former radio presenter Mohd Nadzri Zainal Abidin, popularly known as Jep Sepahtu, has been commended for disclosing his zakat payments totaling RM1.935 million from 2016 to 2025. This action is seen as a significant step towards promoting transparency and maintaining integrity.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Minister in the Prime Minister's Department (Religious Affairs) Dr. Zulkifli Hasan expressed that Jep's decision was also a response to counter slander, showcasing transparency in fulfilling religious duties. He praised Jep on social media, labeling him a hero and an inspiration to those in need in the Federal Territories.

Dr. Zulkifli emphasized that public figures like Jep set a positive example for society, highlighting the importance of zakat in purifying wealth and aiding those in need. He noted that zakat plays a crucial role in strengthening economic stability and ensuring socio-economic justice within the Muslim community.

Jep Sepahtu, in an Instagram post, clarified that the publication of his zakat payment receipts aimed to address previous concerns, rather than boast about the amount paid.
