Kuala lumpur: The Malaysian Volunteer Corps Department (RELA) has clarified that Datuk Jerry Ambuting Mohd Said no longer holds the department's honorary and associate ranks. RELA stated that its records indicate the ranks awarded to Jerry Ambuting on January 22, 2011, expired on January 22, 2014, without renewal or re-conferment.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, RELA denies that the individual still holds this status and stresses that any personal statements issued are unrelated to RELA. The department also emphasizes that no individual or external party may issue media statements on behalf of the department without the approval of its top management.

In two online news articles yesterday, Jerry Ambuting was referred to as president of the Sabah RELA Honorary Members Association.
