Kuala lumpur: The Department of Veterans' Affairs (JHEV) of the Malaysian Armed Forces (MAF) plans to increase collaborations with private companies to enhance second-career opportunities for MAF veterans as they transition from military service.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, JHEV MAF director-general Maj Gen Datuk Semaon Marjuki highlighted the importance of these collaborations in offering employment options that align with veterans' experiences, skills, and expertise. The department aims to engage with industry players to identify suitable job opportunities and provide training and upskilling support.

Currently, JHEV is implementing initiatives through the Armed Forces Ex-Servicemen Affairs Corporation (PERHEBAT), which offers courses in various fields to equip veterans with new skills for sustaining their livelihoods after retirement. These comments were made during the opening of the Batu Kurau branch of the MAF Veterans Foundation Dialysis Centre.

Semaon also addressed a statement by Kempen Tabung Pahlawan patron Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail, who urged private companies to broaden second-career opportunities for veterans. In addition to private sector involvement, JHEV is collaborating with government agencies and departments that need experienced personnel.

Opportunities include positions as wardens at MARA Junior Science Colleges (MRSM), with the number of participating institutions increasing from two to 10 MRSMs. The Malaysian Border Control and Protection Agency (AKPS) also plans to recruit 220 veterans this year.

JHEV continues to strengthen various initiatives to prepare veterans for second careers, helping them become self-reliant and maintain their socioeconomic stability after military retirement.
