Kuala Lumpur: UDA Holdings Berhad (UDA) has announced the appointment of Johari Shukri Jamil as its new president and chief executive officer (CEO), effective today. UDA emphasized Johari Shukri's extensive experience, spanning over 28 years, in corporate environments where he has held leadership roles across various sectors, including property and construction, real estate investment, industrial development, logistics, oil and gas, and engineering.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, Johari Shukri's history of driving transformation and creating value is expected to be crucial for UDA as it embarks on its next phase of growth. Johari Shukri previously served as group managing director of PASDEC Holdings Bhd and as executive director cum CEO of Hektar Asset Management Sdn Bhd, the asset manager of Hektar Real Estate Investment Trust (Hektar REIT).
During Johari Shukri's tenure at Hektar REIT, he successfully navigated the company through its post-pandemic recovery by spearheading growth and diversification strategies that restored profitability. He was recognized as Malaysia Top Achiever 2023 for CEO of the Year, Leadership Excellence in REIT Management by The Leaders Online. His career also includes roles such as executive vice president of Business Development and Transformation Office at Iskandar Investment Berhad, group chief operating officer of EA Technique (M) Berhad, CEO and executive director of Tanjung Langsat Port Sdn Bhd, and various senior roles within Johor Corporation.
Meanwhile, UDA chairman Tan Sri Mohd Annuar Zaini, representing the board of directors, expressed his enthusiasm for Johari Shukri's appointment, acknowledging the support from the Finance Ministry and the Entrepreneur Development and Cooperatives Ministry. He stated that the board looks forward to collaborating with Johari Shukri to drive UDA's growth and enhance its position while adhering to its founding goal of advancing Bumiputera socio-economic development.
