Johor Bahru: The Johor government, in collaboration with the federal government, is dedicated to guaranteeing that the RON 95 fuel subsidy remains exclusively available to Malaysian citizens.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, Johor Menteri Besar Datuk Onn Hafiz Ghazi emphasized that his administration will not tolerate any non-compliance that threatens the rights of the populace. Firm measures will be enforced against any entities attempting to exploit the system by selling RON 95 to foreign vehicle owners.
Datuk Onn Hafiz Ghazi stated, "Alhamdulillah, I, alongside the state Investment, Trade, Consumer Affairs and Human Resources Committee Lee Ting Han and enforcement officers from the Johor branch of the Ministry of Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs (KPDN), have executed inspections at multiple petrol stations around Johor Bahru. The aim was to ensure adherence to regulations surrounding the sale of RON95 petrol and prevent misuse by foreign-registered vehicles."
The inspections verified compliance by petrol station operators with the prohibition on selling RON95 to foreigners and confirmed that prices did not exceed the ceiling of RM2.05 per litre. Additionally, they assessed the 20-litre diesel refuelling limit for foreign vehicles within a 50-kilometre radius from the border to ensure full regulatory compliance.
Datuk Onn Hafiz Ghazi assured that these efforts will persistently continue to safeguard citizens' rights and ensure subsidies reach the intended beneficiaries. He called on the public to contribute to maintaining the transparency of subsidized fuel distribution. Any irregularities or regulation breaches can be reported through the KPDN e-Complaint Portal, with each complaint undergoing investigation and subsequent action.
He concluded, "Hopefully, this step can curb the leakage of subsidies and provide the benefits that the people deserve. Insya-Allah."
