JOHOR FIRE DEPT APPRECIATES MEDIA’S ROLE IN DISSEMINATING INFORMATION, CURBING FAKE NEWS

The Johor Fire and Rescue Department expressed appreciation to media practitioners in the state for their cooperation in disseminating information while curbing fake news.

Its acting director Assistant Fire Commissioner Mohd Rizal Buang hopes that the long-standing good ties will continue as both parties complement each other in carrying out their respective roles.

“A lot of the media, especially under the Johor Media Club (KMJ), help us in disseminating information such as open fire cases and curbing fake news.

“So I hope our good ties (with the media) will continue,” he said at the annual KMJ Singgah Sahur programme at the Johor Fire and Rescue Department headquarters, here early this morning.

Also present were Johor state housing and local government committee chairman Datuk Mohd Jafni Md Shukor, state health and unity committee chairman Ling Tian Soon and KMJ president Mohamad Fauzi Ishak.

Earlier, State Education, Information and Communication Committee chairman Norliza Noh flagged off the KMJ’s 2023 Singgah Sahur convoy, which entered its ninth edition this year.

The convoy was participated by 50 media practitioners who distributed sahur (pre dawn) meals to staff of the Sultanah Aminah Hospital, the Marine Police Force headquarters in Tampoi and the Johor Fire and Rescue Department.

Among the participating media organisations were Bernama, New Straits Times, Sinar Harian, RTM, Malaysia Gazette, Astro Awani, The Star, Kosmo!, Utusan Malaysia, TV3, Best FM, Johor Menteri Besar’s Media Office and Communications Unit (MedKom) and Johor Digital Media.
