Johor KPDN Addresses Foreign RON95 Petrol Usage with BUDI95 Initiative

Johor bahru: The Johor Domestic Trade and Cost of Living Ministry (KPDN) has reported 10 incidents involving foreign-registered vehicles unlawfully using subsidised RON95 petrol from January up to the present.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, KPDN's director, Lilis Saslinda Pornomo, highlighted that three of these incidents were identified following the launch of the Budi MADANI RON95 (BUDI95) initiative. The majority of cases, seven in total, were discovered in the Johor Bahru district, with one case each in Kota Tinggi, Pontian, and Segamat.

Pornomo announced during a press conference at the Johor-level Subsidised Petrol Control System (SKPS) customer day programme that all cases have been escalated to the Deputy Public Prosecutor for further examination. She emphasized the department's commitment to addressing such violations swiftly and thoroughly upon receipt of any reports.

The director also called on petrol station operators to exercise greater caution to ensure that foreign-registered vehicles do not access RON95 petrol, a concern that has been addressed in multiple prior engagement sessions with the operators. She insisted on the necessity for operators to rectify any oversights by their staff to prevent recurrence.

Furthermore, Pornomo stated that the department will persist in its collaborative efforts with various agencies and departments to mitigate the issue. Plans are underway to install prohibition notices at border entry points as a preventive measure in the near future.
