Johor bahru: The Johor government has launched the Semarak Maghrib and Isyak programme, aiming to enhance the culture of congregational prayers and foster Islamic teachings across the state.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Johor Menteri Besar Datuk Onn Hafiz Ghazi emphasized that the programme reflects the state government's dedication to maintaining mosques as vital centers for worship, education, and the promotion of brotherhood among Muslims. This initiative aligns with the Barisan Nasional manifesto promises made during the 16th Johor state election and is part of the efforts to fulfill the public's mandate.

Onn Hafiz noted in a Facebook post that the focus on promoting congregational Maghrib and Isyak prayers follows previous efforts to encourage Subuh prayers statewide. The aim is to ensure mosques continue thriving with religious activities, lectures, and spiritual gatherings. The inaugural event took place at Masjid Jamek As-Syakirin in Bukit Saujana last Tuesday, featuring a session on the 40 Hadith by Johor Bahru district kadi Mohd Zaini Mohd Salleh and a recitation of Surah Al-Mulk.

Moreover, Onn Hafiz urged Muslims in Johor to support the Semarak Maghrib and Isyak initiative by actively participating in mosque activities. He highlighted that this effort is part of the broader mission to strengthen Islamic values in Johor, guided by the Quran and Sunnah.

He expressed hope that the initiative would bring mercy, blessings, and well-being to Johor Darul Ta'zim, enriching the spiritual life of its community.
