Johor Police to Implement Statewide Expansion of GTSP Programme for Enhanced Community Safety

Johor bahru: The Johor police are set to expand the Go To Safety Point (GTSP) Programme across the state next year, aiming to significantly boost community safety and facilitate better access to emergency aid.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Johor Deputy Police Chief DCP Abdul Latiff Mehat announced that the initiative would establish multiple active GTSP locations in every residential area, town, and public hotspot. This effort seeks to create a sustainable community-based safety ecosystem by fostering collaboration between the police and the public, thereby enhancing rapid access to assistance during emergencies or criminal threats.

Abdul Latiff emphasized that the GTSP programme offers a secure environment for the public to obtain protection and support in urgent situations. He expressed gratitude towards strategic partners, including corporate entities, local businesses, and volunteer organizations, for their involvement in the GTSP initiative. He conveyed these remarks while representing Johor Police Chief Datuk Ab Rahaman Arsad at the Johor State-level GTSP Programme event held at Kampung Melayu Majidee Petron.

The deputy police chief highlighted that the GTSP programme not only encourages a culture of safety in the community but also plays a crucial role in saving lives and preventing crime through quick responses from involved parties. The statewide expansion will be coordinated with private agencies and local operators to ensure broad participation and the programme's long-term success.

Petron's Head of Retail Business, Shaliza Mohd Sidek, noted that GTSP's implementation enhances community safety and positions Petron stations as reliable points for early assistance during emergencies. She mentioned that Petron has installed Automated External Defibrillator (AED) units at several stations along highways as part of the GTSP initiative, with plans to expand to more locations by the year's end.

The programme also included simulations of snatch thefts and motorcycle accidents to educate the public on safety and emergency response procedures in alignment with GTSP's objectives. GTSP, an initiative by the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM), aims to provide designated safe points for the public to seek immediate help during emergencies.
