Johor Polls: Anwar Congratulates BN On Retaining Mandate

Johor: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim today congratulated Barisan Nasional (BN) on retaining its mandate to form the state government following the 16th Johor state election. According to BERNAMA News Agency, Anwar expressed through a Facebook post that the mandate entrusted to BN is a responsibility that must be executed with integrity and in the best interests of the state and the people of Johor. He emphasized that with the conclusion of the election and democratic process, it is now essential to focus on service and responsibility towards building a more prosperous and progressive Johor. Anwar, who also chairs Pakatan Harapan (PH), extended his appreciation to the voters and people of Johor for participating in the democratic process. He also thanked election workers and party machinery for their dedication and hard work throughout the campaign period. He stated that all Pakatan Harapan candidates, irrespective of their election outcomes, have been encouraged to continue serving the people and advocating their voices. Anwar further reiterated the Federal Government's commitment to advancing Johor's development agenda and enhancing the well-being of its residents. Earlier, the Election Commission (EC) chairman Datuk Seri Ramlan Harun announced that BN had secured a simple majority by winning 29 of the 56 state seats as of 10.32 pm. At the time of this announcement, Pakatan Harapan had secured two seats, while other parties and independent candidates had yet to win any seats.
