Johor Polls: Fahmi Slams Fake Whatsapp Account Impersonating PH’s Endau Candidate

Johor bahru: Communications Minister Datuk Fahmi Fadzil has condemned those behind a fake WhatsApp account posing as Pakatan Harapan (PH) candidate for the Endau state seat, Saiful Nizam Samat, describing it as an irresponsible act.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Fahmi stated that the individuals responsible were willing to undertake any measures to win the Johor state election. He expressed his disapproval in the comments section of Saiful Nizam's official Facebook post, describing the act as a desperate attempt by irresponsible parties to gain an advantage in the election.

Earlier, Saiful Nizam denied owning the WhatsApp account that was misusing his name and identity to communicate with members of the public for election campaign purposes. He clarified that the account was not linked to him or his campaign team, known as Team SS.

The public has been advised by Saiful Nizam to remain vigilant. He urged individuals to refrain from sharing personal information and avoid interacting with the impersonator. He advised those who receive suspicious messages to contact Team SS through official channels for verification.

In his Facebook post, Saiful Nizam also shared screenshots of conversations from the fake account, which used his profile picture alongside the message: 'I am Saiful Samad, the future Endau assemblyman.'

The Endau seat is currently witnessing a four-cornered contest involving candidates from Barisan Nasional (BN), Pakatan Harapan (PH), Perikatan Nasional (PN), and Parti Orang Asli Malaysia (ASLI).
