Johor Royal Botanical Garden to Reopen as Major Tourism Landmark

Johor bahru: The Johor Royal Botanical Garden is set to reopen to the public on August 31, marking its emergence as a key tourism landmark in conjunction with Visit Johor Year 2026. Menteri Besar Johor Datuk Onn Hafiz Ghazi expressed his gratitude to His Majesty, Sultan Ibrahim, and the Regent of Johor, Tunku Mahkota Ismail, for their support in upgrading the garden as a prominent tourism site in the state.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, the garden will welcome visitors every Wednesday to Sunday from 8 am to 6 pm, remaining closed on Mondays and Tuesdays for maintenance. Entrance fees are set at RM2 for Malaysian citizens and RM30 for non-citizens. Children aged five and below, as well as holders of Disabled Persons (OKU) cards, will enjoy free entry.

Datuk Onn Hafiz highlighted that the Johor Royal Botanical Garden was initially developed in 1864 and has now been revamped to reflect the natural heritage of Johor. The garden covers over 126 acres and boasts 12 Special Gardens, featuring more than 583 species of flora and nearly 145,000 trees, created through collaboration with various city and municipal councils.

He encouraged the people of Johor to visit the garden starting August 31, expressing hope that it will revive historical memories and contribute to the success of the Visit Johor Year 2026 initiative.
