Kuantan: The Joint Forces Headquarters (MK AB) Armed Forces Family Housing (RKAT) construction project, located in Sungai Pancing, is projected to be completed by July 2026, with a valuation of RM197.98 million. Works Minister Datuk Seri Alexander Nanta Linggi announced that the project, which commenced on August 27, 2021, has reached 50.10 percent progress.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, the initial completion date was set for January 23, 2025. However, the completion timeline has been extended to July 17, 2026, to ensure the thoroughness of the work scope. Minister Nanta expressed confidence in the contractors' ability to meet the new deadline, citing the use of the Industrialised Building System (IBS) method, which facilitates faster construction progress.
The RKAT project includes a variety of residential options, such as bungalows, semi-detached houses, and apartment blocks, totaling over 280 units. Additionally, the development will feature amenities like a football field, playground, nursery, and kindergarten.
In related developments, Minister Nanta revealed discussions with the Pahang Public Works Department (PWD) about prioritizing projects under the 13th Malaysia Plan (RMK13), with an emphasis on refining new road projects.
Earlier, the Minister inspected repair works on Jalan Sungai Lembing (FT231), a crucial route linking Kuantan city to Sungai Lembing town and providing access to the East Coast Expressway (LPT) via the Kuantan Toll Plaza. This project is 60 percent complete and is expected to conclude by September 30.
Minister Nanta emphasized the importance of adhering to the schedule without compromising quality and safety, noting that the road had previously suffered structural damage due to groundwater issues.
Furthermore, he visited the Panching elevated intersection project site on Jalan Kuala Lumpur-Kuantan (FT02), which is valued at RM160 million and currently in the procurement stage. The project will involve constructing a 300-meter elevated intersection, upgrading and repairing the existing road, and installing new streetlights and traffic signals.
