Amman: King Abdullah II of Jordan emphasized the necessity for a unified Arab and Islamic stance and collective efforts to counter unprecedented Israeli measures in Jerusalem. The focus is primarily on actions affecting the Al-Aqsa Mosque, a site of significant religious importance.

According to Union of OIC News Agencies, King Abdullah II reiterated Jordan's commitment to its historical and legal responsibilities in safeguarding Islamic and Christian holy sites in Jerusalem, under the Hashemite custodianship. This statement was made during a meeting at Al-Husseiniya Palace with the Arab Ministerial Committee. This committee is tasked with international action to address illegal Israeli policies and measures in occupied Jerusalem.

The meeting included foreign ministers from several countries, including Tunisia, Algeria, Iraq, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Somalia, Palestine, Egypt, and Morocco, alongside the Secretary-General of the League of Arab States. Representatives from Indonesia, Pakistan, Turkey, and Malaysia also participated.

In the presence of Crown Prince Hussein bin Abdullah II, the King cautioned against exploiting regional unrest to alter the status quo in Jerusalem. He expressed concerns over the potential for the conflict to widen due to ongoing Israeli escalation in the West Bank, including land annexation and settlement expansion.

The discussion highlighted the necessity of adhering to all phases of the comprehensive peace plan for the Gaza Strip. Also in attendance were Prince Ghazi bin Muhammad, the King's chief advisor for religious and cultural affairs, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Ayman Safadi, and the Director of the King's Office, Engineer Alaa Batayneh.
