Kuala lumpur: The Road Transport Department (JPJ) anticipates revenue collection performance this year to exceed last year's achievement with an increase of between three and five per cent. JPJ Director-General Datuk Aedy Fadly Ramli stated that an announcement regarding the total overall collection will be made towards the end of the year after all data has been reviewed.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Datuk Aedy Fadly noted that the collection has already surpassed the targets set compared to the previous year, with a typical annual increase of around three to five per cent. He shared these insights during a media appreciation ceremony, which was also attended by the Chief Executive Officer of the Malaysian National News Agency (Bernama), Datin Paduka Nur-ul Afida Kamaludin, and the Acting Deputy Editor-in-Chief of News Service, Mohd Shukri Ishak.

Datuk Aedy Fadly highlighted that JPJ's revenue collection ranks among the highest in the country, trailing only the Royal Malaysian Customs Department and the Inland Revenue Board (LHDN). He also mentioned that JPJ's 80th anniversary will be celebrated next year, with plans for a large-scale celebration tentatively scheduled for April 2026.

Addressing the recent floods affecting several states, Datuk Aedy Fadly revealed that JPJ has mobilised its disaster teams nationwide to assist flood victims, including in states not directly impacted. Each state now has a special team on standby, ready to be deployed as needed, with JPJ Kedah, for instance, providing logistical support such as lorries to deliver aid to affected residents in Perlis.

He emphasized that while JPJ is not the primary agency for rescue operations, it plays a supportive role in humanitarian missions during disasters. Additionally, JPJ is committed to supporting its staff members affected by the floods, ensuring they receive necessary assistance for their welfare.

During the ceremony, Bernama was recognized with a certificate of appreciation and the best photo award.
